Why Camp Riverbend?
At Camp Riverbend, our philosophy builds “confidence, not competition!” We honor each camper’s talents and efforts. Camp Riverbend is a place where each child can be themself, explore the world and learn new skills in a fun and supportive environment.
We also work hard to give each of our counselors and staff opportunities to grow as both individuals and leaders, while building their resumé in a fun, outdoor environment.
Roles at Camp Riverbend
In order to join our Riverbend staff, we ask that all prospective staff be a high school junior (11th grade) or older. We provide a variety of roles for our Riverbend staff. Check out the roles below:
Group Counselors work with one group of children all summer. The group counselors assist activity instructors and at the pool.
Specialty Instructors teach specific skills to campers. Some of our specialty programs are arts & crafts, ceramics, woodworking, baseball, canoeing, cooking, drama, team building and soccer. Some positions (high ropes challenge course, canoeing, archery) also require that the instructor have, or be willing to earn, special certifications. Camp Riverbend will pay the fee to enroll you in a course to earn the required certification.
Waterfront Counselors teach swimming lessons every morning and lifeguard every afternoon. Applicants must have a Lifeguard certification, or be willing to earn it certifications before camp begins. Training is provided by Camp Riverbend in June.
Takes photos of campers every day to share with their parents on Riverbend app. A stong interest in photography and experience with DSLR is a plus but training can be provided. This in an active outdoor job.
Camp Riverbend 2025 Dates & Logistics
Camp Riverbend is a 7 week summer day camp. The regular staff hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-4:00 PM. Camp Riverbend’s 2025 dates are Monday, June 30 through Friday, August 15. Camp is closed Friday, July 4.
Training for counselors will be held June 18, 20, 21 and 22, 2025 at Riverbend. All counselors should be present for both training and the 7-week Camp season.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any lodging for staff members. To those from out-of-state we recommend finding accommodation within about 20 miles of Camp. Most counselors come to Camp on a Camp bus, either as a bus driver (which requires a special Commercial Driver’s License) or as a bus counselor (supervising campers on the bus). Bus drivers and counselors receive extra pay for doing these jobs, on top of their regular counselor salar
